PJP2 PROLOG POST - 170105 - CONTROL - Matthew 5:43-48 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...." “Jesus Said, 'You have heard that it was Said, ‘You Shall LOVE your neighbor And hate your enemy.’ BUT I Say To you, LOVE your enemies And PRAY for those who persecute you, So That you May Be sons Of Your Father Who Is In Heaven. For He Makes His Sun Rise on the evil And On The Good, And Sends Rain On The Just and on the unjust. For If you LOVE those who LOVE you, What Reward Do you Have? Do Not even the tax collectors Do the same? And If you Greet Only your brothers, What More are you Doing than others? Do Not even the Gentiles Do the same? You Therefore Must Be PERFECT, As your Heavenly Father Is PERFECT."....
Perfection - As members of the human race we know that Perfection, total Perfection, at the hands of mankind, flat out is an impossibility. We can get close, we can almost get there, in some things. BUT from a Moral, Just, Righteous perspective, especially under our own steam, nope, it just ain't happening.
As we drill further into today's PJP2 PROLOG POST 170105 (Matthew 5:43-48), there's a LOT of "scratchin'-on-our-heads" thoughts going on here.....I have to believe our Lord Jesus' disciples were all looking at one another, deer-in-the-headlight-look, saying....
"WHAAAAAT?????"
I mean look it over again...."LOVE your enemies"; "PRAY for those who persecute you"; Add-in The Beatitudes...."BLESS those who curse you".....
Breathe, Jeff, Breathe.....Phew....Ok...What I am Hearing The Holy Spirit Cycle Back to is CONTROL.....After all, (we are) Christ's Own, Now (may we) Totally TRUST/RELY On the Lord!
BLUF - Consistently as we've shared through the PJP2 Entries for 170105, on our own, with us in CONTROL, then no - our Lord Jesus' Teaching just doesn't make sense to our old-self.
BUT His Holy Spirit Captures and Shares His Eternal TRUTH with us, and we Can Take This WORD To The BANK.....
Romans 7:10-25 (ESV)...."The very commandment that promised life proved to be death to me. For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it killed me. So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good. Did that which is good, then, bring death to me? By no means! It was sin, producing death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be shown to be sin, and through the commandment might become sinful beyond measure. For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin. For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin."....
So, for our PJP2 PROLOG Prayer for 170105, let me Share a Paraphrase of Prayer from Romans 7:10-25..... O Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, Father God, Thank You that You Are In CONTROL of our Lives. Indeed, Lord Jesus, we Do Delight In Your Law Of God The Father's GRACE towards us. Holy Spirit, In our Inner Being, our True Desire IS to Follow You and TRUST You. BUT, Father God, Forgive us for we also see in our members another law waging war against Your Law Within our Inner Mind. Lord Jesus, Forgive us when we stumble and our held captive to the law of sin that still lurks and dwells in old strongholds of the old-self in our members. O Holy Spirit, wretched men and women that we are! Father God, in anguish we find ourselves Crying to You, "WHO Will Deliver us Fully From this body of death?" O Lord Jesus, we Raise our Thanks to God The Father That Through You, O Lord Jesus Christ, we Are Saved! Holy Spirit, Continue to Teach us that Even When we find ourselves Serving God's Law of LOVE With our New Self's Mind, BUT with our flesh serving the law of sin, You Are With us and Still Working in Full Redemption Mode. Lord Jesus, Thank You and we Raise our Prayers in Your Holy Name....Amen and Amen.....jaj
