PJP2 PROLOG POST - 161111 - WARRIOR - 2 Timothy 2:1-7 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)....
"You Then, my child, Be Strengthened By The GRACE That Is In Christ Jesus, And What you have Heard from me in the presence of many witnesses Entrust to Faithful men, who will be able to Teach others also. Share in Suffering As a Good Soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his Aim Is To Please The ONE Who Enlisted him. An Athlete is not Crowned unless he Competes According To The Rules. It Is the Hard-Working Farmer who ought to have The First Share of the crops. Think Over what I say, For The Lord Will Give you Understanding In Everything."....
So, have you heard the one about the Soldier, the Athlete and the Farmer?
Well, if you haven't, The Holy Spirit Shares it in 2 Timothy 2:1-7.
This is one of my favorite descriptive POWS in regards to us as Followers of our Lord Jesus. One might ask what in the world could a Soldier, and Athlete and a Farmer have in common? A great question indeed - appreciate you asking.
Let me share the three thoughts and Concepts I Hear The Holy Spirit Laying upon my Heart at this moment....(1) Faith; (2) Focus; (3) Follow-through (Discipline).
If we pause and ponder on the Soldier, the Athlete, the Farmer, at least in my noggin', I readily begin to see how God's Three Fs apply. As a Soldier, Athlete, or Farmer we must have Faith in whatever our effort is being applied to that our Training and Higher-Support is in our Corner. Also our Focus is Clear, either it is to take the next objective (or hold the objective we've taken); make the goal or defend against the other team making their point; get the field plowed and planted and tend the crop. Lastly we follow-through either by additional training and/or reinforcements, watering or extra practice.
Yep, I can see Why our Lord Chooses the Soldier, the Athlete and the Farmer as Examples for us to Review and Renew our own Walk with Him.
My Prayer for us today would simply be.....O Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, Father God, we Thank and Praise You for Your Love, Mercy and Amazing Grace. Lord Jesus, Teach us From Your WORD. Holy Spirit, Help us to Understand Your Wisdom Found in Your Example of The Soldier, The Athlete and The Farmer. Father God, May we, In Whatever we Say, Do, or Think, Ever Reflect Your Saving Grace for All. In Your Holy Name, Lord Jesus, we Raise our Prayer and Praise....Amen and Amen....jaj
A Blessed and Happy Veterans Day to one and all.
