PJP2 PROLOG POST - 160915 - SEEK (BLUFF #4) - Proverbs 15:14 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."The Heart of him who Has Understanding SEEKS Knowledge, BUT the mouths of fools feed on folly."
Matthew 2:8 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."And King Herod sent them (the Magi) to Bethlehem, saying, 'Go and SEARCH Diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and worship him.'”
I know we're still just over four months away from focusing on Christmas - however, today's PROLOG POST Focus....Proverbs 15:14, encouraged The Holy Spirit to bring King Herod and The Magi story to mind. In fact we can see a direct correlation between the two and this Proverb.
"The Heart of him who Has Understanding SEEKS Knowledge".....The Magi clearly had 'understanding' that due to the Appearance of our Lord Jesus' Star, there was Divine Knowledge to be Made Known, thus they were SEEKING That Knowledge out. Their Motives to do so we're pure - The Magi wished to find The King and Worship Him.
"BUT the mouths of fools feed on folly"....King Herod was consumed by his lust and greed for power, control, wealth, all the trappings of being "King". Yet here, in the appearance of The Magi, and the story they shared (A Divine Star's Appearance heralding the birth of a New King) clearly rattled his cage. He, as we know from history, did not SEEK God's Understanding, or His Knowledge as to The Miracle in The Manger. No, instead Herod sought to capture and destroy his perception of 'this threat' of an interloper 'stealing' his crown. Folly, pure and simply folly.
And in The End?
The Magi Found The Knowledge they'd been SEEKING, and went away, I think REDEEMED, CHANGED and SAVED by their Encounter with The Baby Jesus.
King Herod never stood a chance. Though he too could have Found Redemption and a Transformed Life at The Feet of Jesus, he did not choose to Follow Him, but rather opposed Him. He elected to be the fool and feed on his self-inflicted folly.
So sad for him. Well done to The Magi.
Thus, in closing, The Word of Encouragement I am Hearing The Holy Spirit Share with me is to TRUST Him, When He Plants that Seed of His Divine Star, calling us To Follow Him. Believe, as we Follow His Star, He Will Help us Find His Understanding as we SEEK Him and His Way.
My Prayer for us today would be a Paraphrase of Prayer and Praise employing The Holy Spirit's WORD as Recorded in Psalm 9:1-2, 9-10, 18-20 (ESV/emphasis & paraphrase added/jaj)....O Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, Father God, we Will Give Thanks To You, O Lord, With our Whole Heart. Lord Jesus, Empower and Encourage us to Recount ALL Of Your Wonderful Deeds and Works. Holy Spirit, In You we Will Be Glad. Father God, we Exult In You. Lord Jesus, we Will Sing Praise To Your Name. O Most High, we Worship You. Holy Spirit, our Lord, You Are our Stronghold! Even when we are oppressed, You, Father God, are our Stronghold in times of trouble. Lord Jesus, For those who Know Your Name, we Put our TRUST Fully In You. O Holy Spirit, For You, O Lord, You Have NOT Forsaken those who SEEK You. O Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, Father God, we Thank You for we Know that the needy of our world Shall NOT always be forgotten. And, In You, The HOPE of the poor Shall NOT perish forever. Father God, we Pray that You Would Arise, O Lord! Come Soon, Lord Jesus and Let not man prevail. Father God, Help us to Share and make them aware, Let the nations Know, in the end, All Will Be Judged Before You! Holy Spirit, May You Instill Your Righteous FEAR (Faithful following/Esteem/Awe/Respect) in us That we May Rightly Praise You for our Lives. Lord Jesus, May we Ever Reflect Your Love, Mercy and Grace to All the nations, and they, like us, are mere men. In Your Holy Name we Pray these Prayers....Amen and Amen....jaj
