LWOG/CATW - Life Without God is like the Chasing After The Wind
Ecclesiastes 1:2-3 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."'Vanity of vanities', says the Preacher, 'vanity of vanities! All is vanity. What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun?'"....
Ecclesiastes 1:14, 17(ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."I have seen everything that is done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind..... And I applied my Heart to know Wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but a striving after wind."....
As I mentioned yesterday, daily readings has currently found me in The Holy Spirit's Inspired WORD to Solomon, as he records in The Book of Ecclesiastes.....The WORD Ecclesiastes translates to "Teacher". As we read through Ecclesiastes, one could begin to get the notion that Solomon's not a happy camper - it could well be seen as a very depressing Book of the Bible. (As noted in the POWS above - Ecclesiastes 1:2-3; 14, 17....
As I've been praying and pondering, I've been asking The Holy Spirit for His Insight into His WORD that He is Sharing with us. He said IF you would place the phrase...."LIFE WITHOUT GOD (LWOG)" in front of what Solomon's writing - LWOG begins to help us make sense of what Solomon's saying. It is believed that Solomon penned Ecclesiastes toward the end of his reign. If you do not know Solomon's story well, he became King (after his dad, King David handed over the crown) and God Blessed and Graced him with Wisdom (since that is what he asked of God).....God also Blessed and Graced Solomon with riches, since Solomon had wisely asked for God's Wisdom to rule Israel well. However, as Solomon aged, he became distracted by many foreign wives/concubines, many of which were idol-worshippers, thus drawing Solomon away from his Faith in YAHWEH.....It is thought that Ecclesiastes is his Inspired Observations of how his LWOG went once he'd strayed from God's WAY in his life.
BUT let us REMEMBER - The BIBLE is God's WORD....AND God Does Indeed Have Nuggets of Gold and WORDs of Encouragement for us in the mines of Ecclesiastes....Put on your miner's helmet, click on your headlamp....we're going exploring.....
God’s Nod - 160927 - LWOG/CATW - Ecclesiastes 2:24-25(ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."There Is Nothing Better for a person Than That he Should Eat And Drink And Find Enjoyment In his Toil. This Also, I Saw, I From The Hand of God, For Apart From Him (LWOG) who can eat or who can have enjoyment?"....
