PJP2 PROLOG POST 160702 - 2 Chronicles 13:14-16 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."And when Judah looked, Behold, the battle was in front of and behind them. AND they Cried To The Lord, and the priests blew the trumpets. Then the men of Judah Raised The Battle Shout. AND When the men of Judah Shouted, God Defeated Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. The men of Israel fled before Judah, AND God Gave them (Israel) into their (Judah's) hand (Because Judah Relied on God)."....
I have a new appreciation for 1-2 Samuel, 1-2 Kings and 1-2 Chronicles, since these six Books of His Word Share a different view of God's Working within His Chosen children, Israel. In this set of POWS today (2 Chronicles 13:14-16), The Holy Spirit Shares with us about the Battle of Mount Zemaraim, where the Northern Kingdom, Israel (led by the usurper and evil King Jeroboam) came out against Judah, the Southern Kingdom (led by the slightly less but still evil King Abijah).
So, as you read this account, tactically it would seem that King Jeroboam has the advantage - (a) His forces outnumber Abijah's by a 2:1 ratio (800,000 vs 400,000); (b) King Jeroboam orders a flanking move which put's Abijah and Judah's Army facing a force in front and behind.
Yet, as we often see in our own lives - the Bottom-Line/Up-Front (BLUF) is WHO is it that each King (and thus Army) really has their Faith in? In Who or What are they Reliant upon? What's at the CORE of what makes their organizations function.
Clearly in this example (Since God's WORD even Says So) the BLUF Difference....BECAUSE Judah Relied On God vs Israel did not....Israel, is would seem, relied on the two 'idol' gods Jeroboam had made (man's creation) and their own strength/prowess (Ratio of 2:1 in their favor).
Too bad Jeroboam did not have 1 John 4:1-6 to consider....1 John 4:1-6 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."Beloved, Do NOT believe every spirit, BUT Test the spirits To See Whether they are From God, For many false prophets have gone out into the world. By THIS you KNOW The Spirit Of God: Every spirit THAT Confesses THAT Jesus Christ Has Come In The Flesh IS From God, AND every spirit that Does Not Confess Jesus IS NOT from God. THIS is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, you ARE From God AND Have Overcome them, FOR HE WHO IS IN you IS GREATER THAN he who is in the world. They are from the world; Therefore they speak from the world, And the world listens to them. We ARE From God. Whoever Knows God Listens to us; whoever IS NOT from God Does Not Listen to us. By THIS we KNOW The Spirit Of TRUTH AND the spirit of error."....
Thus my Prayer for us today would Focus on our CORE.....O Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, Father God, Thank You for Your Loving GRACE. Lord Jesus, Help us to Learn Both from Jeroboam and Abijah. Holy Spirit, Open our Hearts and Minds to You and Your Lessons You are Teaching us from Centering our LIVES on You and Your Way. Father God, Thank You for Your Patience and Your Leading us. Lord Jesus, May we Ever RELY on You and Your Alone. Holy Spirit, Help us to Be A Reflection of You Being at our CORE of LIFE. Father God, Shine Your LIGHT through us, and Make Clear Your Truth that You Are Greater than any challenge we will ever face. We Lift Up our Prayers in Your Name, Lord Jesus....Amen/Amen....jaj
