PJP2 THANKS TEXT 160515 -1 Samuel 30:6 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."And David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, Because all the people were bitter in soul, each for his sons and daughters. BUT David Strengthened himself IN The Lord his God."....
1 Samuel 30 tells the story of David and his Task Force 600 (DTF600) coming back to their Philistinian home-town, Ziklag, only to find that Ziklag had been raided (and burned to the ground) by one of the Israelites ancient foes, the Amalekites. Not only had the Amalekites torched the town, they had taken captive ALL DTF600's wives, sons, daughters!
So you may be curious where PJP2 THANKS 160515 is going from this apparent catastrophe (one of the few battles that David is recorded to have lost, by the way).....
Ok, here we go....I am Thankful for The Holy Spirit's Encouraging Example Provides - Here we find David, God's Warrior, God's Anointed and Soon-to-be-Crowned King of Israel 'distressed' and even threatened by his own DTF600 for this debacle. Yet in the midst of this extremely challenging situation....."BUT David Strengthened himself IN The Lord his God", or as the NIV states this...."BUT David Found Strength IN The Lord his God"....I am Thankful that His Holy Spirit Offers His Strength to us as well - Regardless of the "Ziklag Circumstances" that may be facing us - The Holy Spirit Openly Holds Out His Presence and His Encouragement to ruck-up and carry-on In Him.
Thus my Prayer of Thanks for us today would be - Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, Father God, Thank You for Your Eternal Presence in our Lives. Lord Jesus, Encourage us when our "Ziklag Circumstances" seem overwhelming. Holy Spirit, Remind us That You Are Ever With us. Father God, Help us to Grasp Your Truth - You Are GREATER Than any challenge we will ever face, even death fails In Your Light and Love. Lord Jesus, May we Ever Reflect Your Presence and Your Power in the face of Your and our enemy. We Lift Up our Prayers in Your Holy Name....Amen/Amen....jaj
