PJP2 PROLOG POST 160514 - 1 Samuel 25:32-35 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."And David said to Abigail, 'Blessed Be The Lord, The God of Israel, Who Sent you This Day To Meet me! Blessed Be your Discretion, And Blessed Be you, who have kept me this day from bloodguilt and from working salvation with my own hand! For As Surely As The Lord, The God of Israel, LIVES, Who Has Restrained me From hurting you, Unless you Had Hurried And Come To Meet me, Truly by morning there had not been left to Nabal so much as one male.' Then David Received From her hand What she Had Brought him. AND he said to her, 'Go Up In Peace to your house. See, I Have Obeyed your voice, AND I Have Granted your Petition.'”
The Adventures of David Jesseson continues. What I Hear The Holy Spirit Sharing through this interaction between David, Abigail (Nabal's Wife) and Nabal 'The Fool' is dripping with God's Grace, God's Intercession, God's Discernment, God's Wisdom and even God's Gift to men of Freedom of Choice.
Suffice to say His Story of David, Abigail and Nabal is one worthy of our Reading and Pondering.
One last Point The Spirit just Shared.....Be Aware and Open to those our Lord Jesus would cross our paths with. In this scenario, David and his A-Team 400 are just about to whoop on Nabal 'The Fool' for his insolence and surly dealing with the Ambassadors David had sent to see Nabal. Consider that you have 400 Warriors, Hades-bent to kick some Foolish butt, and here in front of them is a Lone Woman, on a donkey, with a 'wagon-train' of stuff, blocking their path. Thank The Lord David's anger was not so overwhelming that he had the good sense to STOP, WAIT and LISTEN to Abigail. I have to Think The Holy Spirit was Bridging the communication that Abigail was Sharing with David.
Thus, perhaps, a Lesson for us to Learn from this - next time our anger is Fired Up.....let us be Open to those unexpected visitors who may well have Insight from The Lord Jesus about our very scenario that we are ready to Call Down The Thunder on the unsuspecting Foolishness that we're wrapped around the axle about. We may just find, IF we STOP, WAIT and LISTEN, God Does Indeed have the Situation Fully Under Control.....He Just Needs us to TRUST Him.
My Prayer for us today would be a Paraphrase of Prayer and Praise based on 1 Samuel 25:32-35 (ESV/emphasis & paraphrase added/jaj)....O Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, Father God, we Lift Up our Voices and Say, "Blessed Be The Lord!" Lord Jesus, Thank You when You Send Your Messengers to Meet us and Share Your Guidance with us! Holy Spirit, Blessed Be Your Discretion that You Share through those You Send to Help us In Your Name and Way. Father God, Open our Inner Ears that we May Hear You. Lord Jesus, May You ever Be Blessed! Thank You When You Keep us this day and every day from the '"bloodguilt" of losing our temper, or saying harmful things, instead of Sharing Your Word of Life, Love and Grace. Holy Spirit, Thank You for Your Protecting us From "working salvation" with our own hands, a Project Doomed to Failure from the start! Father God, For As Surely As You, our Lord, And our God LIVES, it Is You Who Has Restrained us From hurting others. Lord Jesus, Inspire and Fill us with Your Sense of Urgency to Share Your Gospel with those who Do Not Know You. Holy Spirit, Hasten us to Be Your Witness, for Soon our Lord's Day of His 2nd Advent IS upon us, and there will be No Time Left for those who have Yet To Call Upon Your Name. Father God, Strengthen us to Ever Obey Your Word. May we Ever Send those You Cross our Path with in Peace and Your Grace. Thank You Lord Jesus as we Lift Up our Prayers to You. We Thank You for Granting our Petitions....Amen/Amen....jaj
