PJP2 PROLOG POST 160317 - John 15:13-17 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."Greater Love Has no one Than This, That Someone Lay Down His Life For His friends. You Are My Friends IF you Do What I Command you. No longer Do I call you servants, For the servant Does Not Know what his Master Is Doing; BUT I Have Called you Friends, For All That I Have Heard From My Father I Have Made Known To you. You Did Not Choose Me, BUT I Chose you And Appointed you That you Should Go And Bear Fruit And That your Fruit Should Abide, SO That Whatever you ASK The Father In My Name, He May Give it to you. These Things I Command you, So That you Will LOVE one another."....
John 15:13 is indeed one of my all-time-favorite Passages Of the Word Select (POWS). Every time I read and ponder on John 15:13, I Sense such a Resonance in my own spirit With The Holy Spirit. I am humbled by God's Truth that He Loved us So Much that He Laid His Own LIFE on the line for us. Then, as God The Father Always Does, He Takes us to His Next Level of Grace by Lifting us Up from being His servants, to that Amazing Status of Being His Friends! In a Word....Remarkable! But, as the marketing ads often say....Wait, There Is MORE.....
Not Only did our Lord Jesus Demonstrate His Example by Laying His Own LIFE Down for us, AND Choosing us, former children of selfish darkness, to Become His Friends - Our Lord Jesus Shares with us God The Father's Secrets of LIFE. Every Bit of Wisdom that God The Father Shared with our Lord Jesus, He, in turn, Shared That with us via His Word AND His Gift of His Holy Spirit.
And IF That isn't enough to both Encourage and Fire us up - Our Lord Jesus Shares His Mission with us That we Too should Go, Share His Word and, as He Did, we to likewise shall produce His Abiding Fruit of Love, Mercy and Grace.
When you then couch John 15:13-17 in the context that our Lord Jesus Knows that His Passion, Trial, Crucifixion and Resurrection are just literally around the next corner, one simply has to be in awe that our Lord Jesus, faced with all the pain, cruelty and abandonment He was preparing to meet (head on by-the-way) - Well, for me, this Reality of His Love for me Draws me ever more to my knees in Adoration and Praise....as well as fires-up-the-internal-boiler to Stand-up and Proclaim His Truth.
My Prayer for us today would simply be - Lord Jesus Thank You and Help us ever Reflect Your Love, Light, Mercy and Grace in our daily Lives. Holy Spirit Give us Your Word to Share Your Truth of Forgiveness. Father God, May we Ever Reflect Your Message of Grace to all those who Do Not Yet Know You. Lord Jesus we Ask All our Prayers In Your Precious Name....Amen/Amen/jaj
