PJP2 PROLOG POST 160306 - Numbers 16:20-24 (NIV/emphasis added/jaj)...."The Lord Said to Moses and Aaron, 'Separate yourselves from this assembly So I Can Put An end to them at once.' BUT Moses and Aaron Fell Facedown And Cried Out, 'O God, The God Who Gives Breath To All living things, Will You Be Angry with the entire assembly When Only one man sins?' Then The Lord Said to Moses, 'Say to the assembly, ‘Move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.’”....
Korah, Dathan and Abiram - If you have ever seen Charleton Heston's rendition of Moses, you may recall that E.G. Robinson plays Dathan. In this scene being described in Numbers Chapter 16, the 'opposition' to Moses and Aaron, led by Korah, Dathan and Abiram, have tossed a fairly big gauntlet down against Moses and Aaron's Leadership of the Israelites. As in C.B. DeMille's Movie (The Ten Commandments), we see Dathan as arrogant and self-assured that with his 'followers' (250 prominent leaders of the Israelites) they can overthrow Moses and Aaron, supposedly then to lead the Israelites where they want to go. I think you can pick up a similar sense of this in Numbers Chapter 16.
So, Hear is What I Hear The Holy Spirit spinning up in my noggin' this morning via this PROLOG POST - Three Thoughts - (1) Be Careful What You Ask For & Be Sure WHO You Are Throwing UP Against; (2) PRAY and Intervene - Even for those who oppose you and especially God The Father; (3) Stay Close To Him
I ponder sometimes if Korah, Dathan and Abiram had really thought through the potential consequence of them drawing the line in the sand against Moses and Aaron. I mean had these three been sleeping during the entire Exodus and Desert Dwelling period? How many times had they not Witness First Hand YAHWEH going to bat for Moses and Aaron? Yet, here we see these three (primarily, but several also following in their steps) decide they know better than Moses and Aaron. You have to be impressed with Moses, instead of taking this three on solo - he immediately turns to God The Father for Help. Yep, there's a Lesson Learned there for us, I know I need to be Open to This Teaching - too often I'm sensing the pin on my internal grenade being pulled, when in reality I need to be going to my knees in Prayer to our Lord Jesus.
Leads us to Concept 2 - Pray and Intervene - Moses and Aaron reflect this example well, they DO Come to The Lord in Prayer. They pose a Great Question to God The Father....which as I mull this over I'm starting to Think, Perhaps, This was Part of God's Point to Moses and Aaron - I mean consider, How Easy would it have been for Moses and Aaron to have stood back and said, "Lord, Let them Have it!" Sorta like when we're watching a movie and the 'bad guy' gets his 'just reward' at the end. Yet, here we Witness Moses and Aaron Reacting by Praying for their enemies. Again, another Lesson Learned that, Lord Jesus Help us to Be Open to Your Incorporating this in our own Lives.
Lastly today we come to Concept 3 - Stay Close To Him. Obviously when God's getting Ready to Clean The Slate - it's best not to be too close to That Slate. Make's sense - I Know too often the 'distractions' of our world can start to pull me away from His Path. I do Appreciate His Reminders and Road Signs that I may have done just that. Praise God, Though, His Son Has Paved The Way to Return and Repent, getting Back On His Path Prior to Hitting that Sink Hole that could Swallow us Whole.
My Prayer for us today - O Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, Father God, we Praise and Worship You. Lord Jesus, Help Open our Eyes and Minds and Hearts to Be Clear on Your Vector and Guidance in our Lives. Holy Spirit, Forgive us when we stray away from You. Father God Protect us from ourselves, especially when we begin to drift into the sin of Korah, Dathan and Abiram. Lord Jesus, Thank You for Your Examples that You Share Through Your servants, such as Moses and Aaron. Holy Spirit, Teach us to Intervene and Intercede as You Do for us. Father God, Keep us Ever Close to You. O Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit, Father God, Thank You and May we Ever Reflect Your Light in our Lives. In Your Precious Name we Pray....Amen/Amen....jaj
Blessings/jaj
