PJP2 PROLOG 160229 PROLOG Focus - Luke 23:44-47....
Psalm 21:13 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."Be Exalted, O Lord, In Your Strength! We Will Sing and Praise Your Power"....
PJP2 PROLOG POST 160229 - Luke 23:44-47 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun's light failed. And The Curtain of The Temple Was Torn In Two. Then Jesus, Calling Out With A Loud Voice, Said, 'Father, Into Your Hands I Commit My Spirit!' And Having Said This He Breathed His last. Now When the centurion Saw What Had Taken Place, he Praised God, saying, “Certainly This Man Was Innocent/Righteous!”
There's so much in this Passage Of the Word Select (POWS), no way, in one PJP2 PROLOG POST I could begin to cover it all without this becoming a book. That said, I am Hearing The Holy Spirit Focus me on one of my favorite characters of The Word - the centurion.
Though The Word does not enlighten us on this centurion's identity, I often have pondered if this is not the same centurion (Matthew 8:5; Luke 7:1) that Jesus Had Healed the centurion's servant. IF this is not the same centurion, then isn't it even more remarkable that this centurion, a clear representation of the Gentile presence at our Lord Jesus' Crucifixion, would recognize Jesus' Innocents/Righteousness from his observations of the Passion of Christ? The Holy Spirit Inspired Matthew and Mark to Record the centurion's statement at our Lord's Cross to be, "Truly He Was The Son of God!".... (Matthew 27:54; Mark 15:39)....
Ok, so here's my point for this Pondering - IF this is the centurion of which our Lord Jesus Healed his servant, then his observations of Jesus had been long term, and Jesus's Passion simply confirmed what the centurion had come to know as God's Truth. IF this is another centurion, new to His Story, then, in similar fashion, The Holy Spirit had, through this brief interaction with our Lord Jesus, brought him to the point of realization of Who our Lord Jesus is.
Likewise we stand in their sandals.
The advantage for us, that our Lord Jesus' contemporaries did not have, we can see the broad picture of God's Plan of Salvation, Redemption and Reconciliation from Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21. May we, like the centurion, be Open and Willing to Express The Good Confession at The Foot of our Savior's Cross, and Express Praise at His Empty Tomb.
My Prayer for us today would simply be - Lord Jesus, Thank You for Your Gift of Salvation. O Holy Spirit, like the centurion, Open our Eyes that we too May See and Witness to Your Truth. Father God, May we Make The Good Confession as well, Being a Reflection of Your Love and Light for All. In Your Precious Name we Lift Up our Prayers....Amen/Amen/jaj
Blessings to you and yours/jaj
