PJP2 PROLOG 160212 PROLOG Focus Mark 15:37-39....
Psalm 71:14 (ESV/emphasis added/jaj)...."BUT I Will Hope Continually And Will Praise You yet more and more"....
Mark 15:37-39 (NIV/emphasis added/jaj)...."With a loud cry, Jesus breathed His last. The Curtain of The Temple (which sectioned off the Holy of Holies) was Torn in Two from top to bottom. And when The Centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, Saw How He died, he said, 'Surely This Man Was The Son of God!'”....
I Hear The Holy Spirit Focusing our attention today as we ponder together on The Centurion. I have mentioned before that I am contemplating potentially writing a book, or a series based on 'The Centurion'. I am drawn to his Witness of our Lord Jesus, and for a Centurion of Rome (who, by the way I am certain were well expected to give their full allegiance and devotion to Caesar) to make such a statement, "Surely This Man Was The Son of God!", That is indeed fairly bold for him to do.
Though God's Word does not tell us, I have often wondered if this Centurion is not the very same Centurion that in Matthew 8/Luke 7 came to our Lord Jesus, asking Him to Heal his ill servant. Hard to say. In my noggin I'm thinking it is the same fellow.
But here's the point for today - regardless if this Centurion had been following our Lord Jesus (and His Life), or he was a Johnny-come-lately and merely witnessed the trial and crucifixion, he was able from his position to grasp Who Jesus Really Was, even in the midst of His Agonizing/Tortuous Time on His Cross. The Same is Still True today. Our Lord Jesus's Identity as God The Father's One True and Living Son, is Still Revealed to All who will Come to Him and be Open to His Spirit's Opening of our spirit's Eye.
My Prayer for us today would be just that. Lord Jesus, May we too Be Like The Centurion. May our Faith In You be such that our Focus is Clear and Your Way is Near to us. Thank You Holy Spirit for Your Being with us each and every day. Father God, Strengthen and Encourage us to be able to Stand Fast for You and Your Work of Redemption within us. Lord Jesus we Worship and Praise You and Thank You for Your Sacrifice and Resurrection. In Your Holy Name we Pray these things...Amen/Amen....jaj
Blessings/jaj
